Riverfest 2014 music headliners announced

Wichita Festivals announced Riverfest 2014's concert headliners earlier today. They say there will be, " an array of national stars and diverse talents."

The Wichita Symphony Orchestra will open with the Koch Twilight Pops Concert featuring Music Theatre of Wichita on Kennedy Plaza. This follows the Sundown Parade and is a prelude to the Capitol Federal Fireworks. Roots rockers Moreland & Arbuckle will perform at WaterWalk Pavilion that night.

Jerrod Niemann will headline the Coleman Country Concert with Chuck Wicks as the opening act on May 31. “Drink to That All Night” is the hit single from Niemann’s new album, which will be released March 25.

On Sunday, June 1, a day-long Salute to Aviation will be performed with Joan Jett and The Blackhearts.

Hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash will DJ the Wet & Wild Neon Dance Party on Wednesday, June 4.

Kelley Hunt will perform Thursday, June 5, Cajun festivities on Kennedy Plaza.

Saturday night, June 7, the Spirit AeroSystems Rockin’ On the River concert brings Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg to rock downtown Wichita with their tribute to America’s punk heroes. It will  feature a laser light show and the March Forth Marching Band from Portland, Ore.

A number of local and regional acts will also perform at Riverfest 2014, including O’Phil, Vagabond Swing, Carrie Nation & The Speakeasy, DJ Carbon, Green River Ordinance, Honkey Suckle, Timmy Jonas & The Whiskey Militia, Soleb Theory, Japanese Game Show, Peculiar Pretzlemen, Nouveau Quintette, Choro Cats and many others. In addition to the Kennedy Plaza and WaterWalk Pavilion
stages, the Century II Food Court stage and Star Lumber Floating stage at A. Price Woodard Park will be activated throughout the festival.

Gospel Fest and Golden World interfaith concerts on Monday, June 2; and a classic country concert and a Throwback Day concert on Tuesday, June 3 are planned. Performers will be announced.

Admission to all Riverfest concerts is free with a Riverfest button. Adult buttons are $5, and children’s buttons (ages 6-12) are $3. Riverfest buttons will be available at major button retailors (Dillons, QuikTrip, AAA) beginning May 9.
