HUTCHINSON, Kan. -

Hutchinson firefighters have fought five fires in 31 hours.

So far, investigators said non are connected. The fires have been in different locations all over the city. Deputy Fire Chief Doug Hansen said this many is unusual.

"They've all been accidental, one of the fires we're pretty sure was due to careless smoking, the one last night, we can't rule out careless smoking or it could have been a malfunction of a hot tub that was outside," Hansen said.

The five fires have been challenging to the staff, the department said it has enough crews to handle it. Only one firefighter has worked four of the five house fires.

All firefighters are holding up well, Hansen said.

"The fires have been spread out enough that they've been able to go back," he said. "Either get a fresh change of clothes, take a shower, get some food in their systems, re-hydrate, before they move on to the next one."

Investigators are still looking into all of the situations, crews said its fortunate no one has been hurt.
