Nashville, Kan. -

A weekend homicide in Kingman County remains under investigation, according to the sheriff.

Sheriff Randy Hill said his office is wrapping up the case and expected to turn the case over to the district attorney's office Tuesdya.

Dean Alan Cowles was booked into the Kingman county jail Saturday for Curtis Lee Shelton's death.

Shelton was found deceased in his home Friday afternoon.

The Sheriff's office was making a welfare check on Shelton when they discovered his body.

Neighbors say they are in shock.

"I've lived here 40 years and we've never had a murder in all the years that I've lived here," said longtime resident Jerry Klausmeyer.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.  But police say he was shot multiple times.

Hill said a weapon has been recovered.
