SALINA, Kan. -

Folks in Salina may hear a little more noise this month. The Salina Airport Authority says the military is conducting training next week (June 16).

The deployment includes close air support training, live fire events, aircraft familiarization and integration by members of the Air Force, Navy, Army and other units.

Officials say the Salina Regional Airport will help provide support for training at the Smoky Hill Air National Guard Weapons Range.

The Airport Authority says Salina residents shouldn't need worry if they hear any loud bangs. The military will be on the weapons range destroying mock enemies and using inert ordnance.

Officials say the air traffic control tower will work with the units to keep the planes west of the city when possible.
