Man dies after suffering a medical emergency at Goddard Pool

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. -

A man who was hospitalized after a medical emergency at the Goddard City Pool has died according to the Goddard Police.

It happened at the pool in the 200 block of South Main around 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Police Chief Sam Houston says the man was in the pool when lifeguards saw him floating face down.  Emergency crews say the man suffered a cardiac related medical emergency while in the water. Houston says lifeguards did everything right.

"They pulled him out and performed CPR, stabilizing him until EMS could arrive."

Houston says police on scene used an AED to further stabilize the victim. The man in his 60's was taken to Wesley Medical Center in critical condition, but later died.
