Well, on to the next one.
It wasn't pretty (until the end) but it a win is a win for KU as they topped Eastern Kentucky.
The Colonels played to their strength of shooting the long ball but KU countered by pounding it inside and eventually overpowered EKU to win, 80-69.
Tarik Black, Perry Ellis and Jamari Traylor just rammed the ball in the paint for the win and ensuring their first win in the NCAA Tournament.
KU is good. They can be great. But they can also be pretty bad. The Jayhawks are really all over the place, sometimes. What kind of team will be there on Sunday vs. Stanford? The same one that pushed past the Colonels or the one that dropped a game to Villanova?
They are unpredictable but maybe in the next three weeks, we will see the emergence of Conner Frankamp and Traylor. Both had great games in a game where the team was needing something. Traylor was fantastic in the final stretch and Frankamp provided calm when there wasn't much.
"Our guys just have to come out ready every game because every team in this tournament is going to give us their best shot and they are going to be really good," Frankamp said. "So our main focus is come out ready, and ready from the jump."
The experts always say you need good guard play to be successful in the tournament. Point guard has been a thorn for KU this season. Maybe Frankamp can stabilize things. Maybe not. But he has good pieces to work with. Bill Self said before the game that Frankamp would get his shot this week. Let's see how this plays out.
