Jimmy Reed
WINFIELD, Kan. -

An inmate who went missing from the Winfield Correctional Facility early this morning was found according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Law enforcement in Cowley County as well as the Kansas Department of Corrections special agents searched for 29-year-old Jimmy Reed. He was apprehended on K-15 east of Udall around 5 p.m by KDOC special agents and the Cowley County's Sheriff's Department.

Reed was incarcerated for domestic battery and aggravated sexual battery crimes committed in Sedgwick County in 2009.

The Kansas Department of Corrections says Reed was in the minimum custody facility because his two underlying crimes are considered, "lower level crimes" by the state judicial system.

Reed will be charged with aggravated escape from custody according to the KDOC.
