Students from a Wichita school choose to give back to their community during summer camp.
The Independent School partnered with United Way to host the camp all week for about a dozen middle school students.
Students were out at the Wichita Children's Home helping clean the facility and work on landscaping Friday afternoon.
Earlier this week, they were able to take part in activities such as cleaning up at Tanganyika Wildlife Park and preparing meals at the Lord's diner.
"We are digging up weeds and putting down mulch and taking away old furniture and bringing in new for the Children's Home," Brenna Donnelly said. "Basically we've been doing community service for anyone who will let us volunteer."
Independent says it is the only school in the area providing this hands-on experience to teach kids to give back to their community.
