SEDGWICK COUNTY -

Dispatch received dozens of calls about slide offs and weather related accidents Saturday. Ice started coming down early Saturday morning and the snow picked up a few hours later.

City crews have been working 12 hour shifts to clean up the snow but many roads were snow packed Saturday.

Lt. Carl Mackey with the Kansas Highway Patrol asks drivers to stay home.

"If you don't have to be out here please stay home. If you are out please understand you need a greater following distance than normal and you need to slow down," Mackey said.

Wichita enacted the emergency accident reporting plan Saturday. That means drivers should not call 911 in the case of a non-injury accident, instead you should fill out a form and send it in within 24 hours of the accident.
