HUTCHINSON, Kan. -

Hutchinson fire crews spent their Wednesday morning putting out a large house fire.

Crews were called to the 200 block of W. Avenue E at around 2:40 am. When they arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the front of the home.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about 30 minutes, but remained on scene for three hours to monitor hot spots.

The fire caused severe damage to the structure, with the roof dropping down and a wall bowing out in part of the building.

Deputy Fire Chief Doug Hanen says the house was boarded up and appeared to be vacant. No one was inside and no one was hurt.

The house is valued at $10,500 and is considered a total loss.

No word yet on what caused the fire.
