SEDGWICK COUNTY -

People in north Sedgwick County were shocked when one person died after a double shooting Friday night.

A man and woman were shot at their home near 109th St. North and Woodlawn. The Sedgwick County Sheriff's department confirms Melissa Bluml died from her injuries Saturday afternoon. The other person who was shot was her husband, he is still in critical condition.

Wava Ruckle lives next to the Bluml's home. She was asleep when investigators arrived Friday night, but she heard about the shooting first thing Saturday morning.

"My brother called and said 'what's happening out there?' I said what do you mean?", Ruckle said.

Ruckle says Sheriff's deputies didn't come by her house until later Saturday morning.

"They asked me if I heard or saw anything, I said you can't hear anything out here with the wind," Ruckle said.

Ruckle says deputies didn't tell her they were looking for a suspect or that neighbors needed to be on the look out or lock their doors.

Investigators are asking for the public's help. If anyone has information on this shooting call 660-5300.
