A former Wichita Police officer and former Wichita Public Schools security supervisor has been formally charged with child sex crimes.
According to the District Attorney's Office, 51-year-old Alex Robinson was arrested Wednesday. He made his first appearance in court Thursday afternoon.
Prosecutors charged Robinson with eight counts of child sex crimes, including aggravated indecent liberties with a child, aggravated criminal sodomy.
Robinson was also arrested in January of 2013, accused of molesting at least one person around ten years ago when the alleged victim was 12 to 14 years old.
He was never formally charged. District Attorney Marc Bennett said last week that police were waiting for an "item of investigation" before making a final decision on charges.
Robinson has been on paid administrative leave from the school district since the first arrest. Spokeswoman, Susan Arensman, says the district is currently reviewing Robinson's employment status.
He remains jailed on $100,000 bond. If he bonds out of jail, the judge has banned Robinson from having contact with anyone under 16 years old.
