Firefighters investigate after vacant home catches fire

WICHITA, Kan. -

Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in southwest Wichita.

The fire broke out at a vacant home near the intersection of 31st St. and Seneca, Thursday night a little after 8 p.m.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire. Police officers say this is possibly a criminal investigation. They are questioning people in the area about fireworks or possibly careless smoking.

The fire caused $40,000 in damages.
