Fire investigators are searching for a cause in a deadly fire at a north central Kansas home.

The fire broke out in the 100 block of 5th St. in Solomon early Tuesday morning. Neighbors tell Eyewitness News they watched the flames spread quickly from the back of the home.

Chief Randy Paden, Solomon Fire Department, said crews recovered a body in the home Tuesday afternoon. No names have been released.

The fire started in the kitchen or living room. It took crews about two hours to put the fire out, Paden said.

The home is a total loss.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine a cause of death.
