A Liberal man is dead after the truck he was driving crashed into a semi in Southwest Kansas.

It happened on US83, three miles north of Liberal in Seward County just after five o'clock Wednesday morning.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said 80 year-old Stanley Wilburs was traveling southbound on U83, when he crossed the center line into a northbound semi.

The semi driver tried to avoid the crash by moving to the right, but struck the truck behind the driver's side front tire.

Investigators said the semi's tires rolled over the truck. The semi driver wasn't hurt.

Troopers said Wilburs was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
