STAFFORD COUNTY, Kan. -

A Macksville man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a farming accident in Stafford County.

The accident happened two miles south of US-281 & US-50 junction, south of St. John.  Sheriff Jeff Parr says farm employees were working on lifting up one tractor with another tractor to get a jack under the front axle.

Parr said 34-year-old Manuel de Jesus Llanas Ortiz got pinned between to the two farm vehicles. Ortiz died on the scene.

Parr says farm employees had just removed a tractor from a runoff pond. The tractor got stuck while employees were trying to break up the ice on the pond for cattle.
