A Salina Girl is still at the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Neb. after being shocked.
A family member of Jayden Hicks spoke with KWCH Wednesday to give an update. The 11-year-old was shocked while playing near a junction box during a rainstorm in May. She was playing with four other children and an adult when the shocking happened.
Jayden has been unconscious since the incident. The family member said she is still in a vegetative, comatose state and doctors have told them there doesn't appear to be any changes that would indicate she is going to come out of it.
The family remembers Jayden as a girl who was full of life and loved her friends and school.
The family has hired an attorney from Kansas City. The city hired a third-party to help with the investigation. City leaders approved a $1 million upgrade to replace its downtown light system, even though it says the accident was an isolated incident.
There is a fundraiser set up for the family at all of the Sunflower Bank branches in Salina.
