Ellsworth County fatal accident

ELLSWORTH COUNTY, Kan. -

A Fort Riley soldier died after the car he was driving crashed in Ellsworth County.

It happened  about 12:26 Tuesday on I-70 at the 216 mile marker about 9 miles northwest of Ellsworth.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said 22 year-old Calvin Michalak was traveling in the westbound lanes when for unknown reasons , it enter the center median and struck the concrete bridge pillars.

Troopers said Michalak was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.  He was riding alone and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
