WICHITA, Kan. -

It says right there on the box, "the sweetest comeback in the history of ever."

Daevey Abernathy will see about that.

"I don't like Twinkies," Daevey said.

But, Daevey knows her sweets.  She's behind "Wichita Cake Creations."

"We offer over 15 gourmet flavors on top of doing specialty occasion cakes," Daevey said.

We bought the "Hostess Twinkies Maker" at Dillons for less than $20.

"In a large bowl we are going to cream together the butter and sugar," Daevey said as she read the instructions.

Then, she plugged in the unit.  The maker heated-up quickly.  The baker poured in the batter and shut the lid.  The Twinkies are done seven minutes later.

"That looks pretty good to me," Daevey said.

Daevey finished whipping-up the marshmallow fluff filling.  Finally, she filled the Twinkies.

For the ultimate taste test, we compared our homemade Twinkies, to the real thing.  Our Twinkies weren't cool enough for the cream.  So, it melted inside.  Still, our somewhat crispy homemade Twinkies didn't stand-up to the original.

Does it work?

"It does work," she said.

However, Daevey doesn't think they're a good substitute for the real deal.
