Wichita crews have started treating city streets with salt days after a winter storm dumped more than eight inches of snow in the area.
The decision comes as the city received additional shipments of salt late this week. The city is now working with 3,300 tons of salt, about half capacity.
Drivers should begin to notice a difference in city streets over the weekend with the treatment and rise in temperatures. Crews working 12-hour shifts will treat emergency routes first.
But roads could remain slick overnight as freezing drizzle and light snow is forecast over the weekend.
