YODER, Kan. -

A group of men are being called heros, after they lift a car off a man and pull him to safety.

Crews were called to the 3100 block of Switzer Road near Yoder around 6:00pm Sunday.

The Reno County Sheriff's Office says 38-year-old Marvin Sherwood was airlifted to Wichita in critical condition. Doctors have since upgraded him to fair condition.

Howard Burkholder says the man's 8-year old daughter knocked on his back door and told him to call 9-1-1. She also got the attention of other neighbors.

"Happened to be six or more of them out there, and they just lifted the car up and pulled him out," Burkholder said. "It was kind of a miracle that it all happened, because if they wouldn't have been here I don't know that three or four of us could have ever lifted that off of there."
