MCPHERSON, Kan. -

McPherson police have identified the man whose body was found outside a storage shed.

Police were called to the report of a suspicious item in the 400 block of W. Woodside  around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, they found a man's body.

The man has been identified as Ernest Miller, 26. Investigators said he was strangled to death, and suffered head injuries.

Authorities are waiting on toxicology reports.

Neighbors say they woke up to the sound of sirens and looked out their windows to see a body lying on the ground in front of two metal storage sheds. Now, everybody in town is trying to figure out what happened.

Brad Brown, McPherson resident, said it's been several years since a suspicious death had the community talking.

"We have ideas of what's going on, but don't know anything," he said. "It's out of control a bit. If you get the wrong crowd, different things are going on."

The McPherson Police Department was searching for a 2010 charcoal gray Ford Focus in connection with the investigation. Police found the vehicle just before 8 p.m. Thursday.
