Sedgwick County Zoo was busy Saturday afternoon. It was a pleasant change for zoo staff who say business had been slow during a two week cold snap.
When temperatures were in single digits and more than 12 inches of snow was on the ground the zoo averaged 10 visitors a day, but on Saturday the temperatures were in the 50s and more than 1,400 people came to visit.
Aaron Degraffenreid took his three children to the zoo. He says the whole family was ready to get out after a week of freezing cold.
"It feels so nice to get some sunshine. Something about staying inside and just not seeing the sun is rough on our bodies. It's really nice to be out and enjoy this sun," Defraffenreid said.
