(WICHITA, Kan.) -

When the best basketball player in the world is Tweeting about you, you're kind of a big deal.

Wednesday, LeBron James gave the Shockers and his "lil cousin" Darius Carter a shout out on the heels of their historic start.  Wichita State became the first NCAA men's team to achieve a 30-0 record in the regular season.

Despite racking up the wins, the Shockers have their share of doubters too.  Critics use the "O" word - "overrated" and point to WSU's relatively weak schedule.

On Twitter, no one's been more critical or realistic - depending on your perspective - than CBS Sports Radio host Doug Gottlieb.  He's ripped off a number of jarring Tweets in recent days.  Some raise valid points, others get Shocker fans red in the face.

"Dear clown show #Shocker fan boy radio guys/columnists - please understand the argument before u step to me," read one such Tweet.  It appeared to be directed at veteran Wichita Eagle sports columnist Bob Lutz, who took a few shots of his own at Gottlieb in Sunday's paper.

Gottlieb insists he "loves" the Shockers.  He just doesn't think they're among the top 8-10 teams in the country.  He says other teams are far more deserving of a No. 1 seed in next month's NCAA tournament.

Wichita's own Kirstie Alley stepped into the fray.  Following WSU's 69-49 victory Tuesday, she Tweeted Gottlieb directly. "We ARE #1!!!  We ARE the REALZ DEALZ ..play ANGRY Dougie, PLAY ANGRY".

Overrated and untested, or outstanding and unbeaten.  Whichever side you're on, one thing is for sure.  As long as the Shockers keep winning it'll be the most talked about story in sports.
