Oops! Pope Francis drops F-bomb

Learning a foreign language can be tricky, as Pope Francis demonstrated Sunday when he accidentally let the Italian equivalent of an F-bomb slip out during a blessing at the Vatican.
The Argentinian pope was asking for a peaceful resolution to the situation in Ukraine when he tripped up on his Italian, according to the Daily Mail. He meant to say "caso," which means "example," but instead said "cazzo," which means something quite different.
According to a Daily Mail translation, he quickly corrected himself, saying:
"'In this f***, in this case the providence of God is made visible as gesture of solidarity."
News of the papal F-bomb quickly spread online, but the general reaction was that the pope made a genuine and common mistake for people learning Italian -- and if anything, it boosted his "man of the people" image, according to the Daily Mail.
According to the New York Post, there is some dispute on the exact vulgarity the pope uttered. Some are comparing what he said to the F-word, while others argue it's more accurately translated as a synonym for a male body part.
No one, however, is disputing that this was a rather easy-to-make slipup and is not likely to become a normal part of papal blessings.
