A 5-year-old's run as mayor of a northern Minnesota town has come to an end.

Robert "Bobby" Tufts lost his bid for a third term as mayor of Dorset on Sunday, according to The Associated Press.

The new sheriff (er, mayor) in town is 16-year-old Eric Mueller, whose name was drawn from the ballot box during the town's annual Taste of Dorset festival.

Bobby was first "elected" to the post at age 3 in 2013.

Dorset's population ranges from nine to 28, and has no formal city government. It sits about 150 miles north of Minneapolis.

Residents can "vote" for mayor as many times as they want. The cost? $1 per ballot.

Proceeds from the election go toward organizing the festival, according to Minneapolis TV station WCCO.
