Make Time For Family

Family time, or time spent with those we love, is incredibly important. We are relational people by nature so we crave time with one another. Making time for relationships to make them positive and successful is even good for our physical and mental well-being. But with school in full swing and schedules certainly not letting up as hoiday season looms closer, creating time can be hard.
Dr. Michelle Robertson, a marriage and family therapist associated with Friends University, had some great advice on scheduling family time. She stressed not to feel pressured to make it happen, but to just carve out any amount of time to be together no matter how brief. Here are some suggestions for ways to do so:
- Have a conversation
- Go to a movie
- Play a game
- Eat a meal together
- Go out for ice cream
- Take a walk
The important thing to remember is that family time does NOT need to cost much or anything at all. What matters is getting some time together to catch up and reconnect. Start your day off with coffee with a family member or unwind at the end of a long day with your kids. No matter how large or small an amount of time, carve it out and make it happen!
