On Saturday, May 10, local residents are invited to go “Over the Edge” in one of Wichita’s most daring fundraisers ever.
For the very first time, the Boys Scouts of America’s Quivira Council will host the special fundraiser, “Over the Edge,” which will have participants climbing down one of the tallest buildings in Wichita!
This once-in-a-lifetime experience will have participants rappelling 14 stories (that’s 170 feet) down the side of the Ambassador Hotel in downtown Wichita.
Limited to the first 73 participants, individuals who want to participate are required to raise a minimum of $750. To raise funds, participants must set up their own personal fundraising website and solicit contributions from friends, family and co-workers. Once you have raised the minimum of $750, a staff member for Over the Edge will contact you to reserve your spot.
This special fundraiser even gives you an opportunity to toss your own boss over the edge of the Ambassador Hotel. Just register them online and get your co-workers to raise a minimum of $750 to “Toss Your Boss” over the building.
All participants must weigh between 110 to 300 pounds. If you are over 16 years old but not yet 18, you can participate but must have an adult sign a waiver. No rappelling or climbing experience is required.
Even a few local celebrities will be going “Over the Edge” for the Boy Scouts of America, including TV host Sierra Scott, Channel 12 Sportscaster Jenn Bates, and Katie Hatfield and Shane Konicki of KSCW’s Weekend Crew.
All of the proceeds raised from this event will benefit the Boy Scout program of the Quivira Council, which serves youth in 30 counties in southern and southeast Kansas.
