Nearly 200 pigs killed in W. Kansas truck crash

(ROLLA, Kan.) -

176 pigs were killed when a semi hauling feeder pigs overturned on K-51 just north of Rolla Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the semi was headed south on K-51 when it left the roadway, entered the east ditch and overturned onto the passenger side.

KHP says the truck was hauling 560 head of feeder pigs, 176 of them were killed.  The rest were transferred to another semi and taken away.

The 45 year old driver, who is from Ulysses, was not seriously hurt.
