Thoughts and prayers go out to Jayden Hicks from friends like Mason Hill and his mom, Kathy. Both have known the 11-year-old Salina girl all her young life--a life that took a tragic turn Wednesday evening.
"She's a very spunky and a very loving little girl," Kathy says.
I happened right along a downtown sidewalk. Witnesses say she was right on top of an underground box that contains wiring for street lights.
The power has been cut off for now as the city investigates. Wednesday evening emergency crews responded after Jayden was knocked unconscious while playing with friends. The ground was wet from rain.
Now, Jayden is in critical condition.
"I'm just hoping she makes it," Mason says.
Now, people in Salina want some answers, and some assurance this isn't going to happen again to anybody else.
