Jade joined the KWCH 12 Eyewitness News family in 2013, as your weekend morning anchor/weekday reporter. She's excited to be back in her home state reporting on news that matters to her friends and family.
Jade grew up on a farm in northwest Kansas where she learned the value of hard work and helping your neighbor. It was her dance teacher that first inspired her to be a journalist. She knew her love for people and learning would serve her well reporting in the field. That on top of the fact, that the negative remarks on her report cards at school involved talking too much!
After graduating from St. Francis Community High School, Home of the Indians, Jade attended the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, CO. She majored in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Photography and Graphic Design. There, she was a part of the campus news station, Bear News.
Her junior year she interned with 9News (KUSA) in Denver, CO, where she truly fell in love with journalism. The adrenaline rush felt with breaking news, the interesting people she met along the way and the difference each story made held her heart steadfast for this career path she had chosen.
Jade started her career in the Cowboy State of Wyoming. There she went by the name Rylee, when another reporter at the same station shared her real name. Within her first year, she became the weekday evening anchor, co-anchoring with one of her mentors and now dear friend, Robert Geha. There she received awards for anchoring, photography and her report on an unsolved murder mystery of a young Cheyenne father.
When not at work, or updating her Facebook and Twitter pages, you will more than likely see Jade with a camera glued to her hand exploring the plains of Kansas and beyond. She enjoys sharing this passion on social media so be sure to follow her!
