Heather Williams covers NASCAR for Eyewitness Sports.
Before moving to Kansas in September 2010, Heather spent most of the past 10 years in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She served as the Weekend Sports Anchor for WDSI-TV and then as a Producer and Reporter at WTVC-TV. She has also worked at stations in Nashville, Greenville, Mississippi and Springfield, Missouri and done freelance work for FOX Sports South.
Heather has been honored many times for her work as a sportscaster including an Associated Press award for Best Sportscast in the state of Tennessee, a Regional Murrow Award and two Emmy Nominations. She also won the 2006 Catltin Motorsports Journalism Award of Excellence and is the only winner ever to not have a NASCAR sanctioned track in her area.
Heather has covered everything from the first ever playoff run by the Nashville Predators hockey team to a Division II National Football championship for Delta State (MS). She really enjoys telling the stories you might not otherwise hear about and those that even someone who is not a hard core sports fan will enjoy.
When she is not covering sports, Heather loves to watch them. “I came from a sports family, it’s what we do,” Heather says. “Even my mom plays in our family fantasy football league.” She grew up in Kansas City so you can guess where Heather’s allegiances run, that’s right the Royals, the Chiefs the Jayhawks and of course her alma matter the Missouri State Bears (sorry Wichita State fans).
Heather also loves music and dance, especially ballroom dancing (a discipline she just recently took up for a local version of “Dancing With the Stars” she did in Chattanooga).
